Totally impressed with the cloning software. Took about two hours to transfer from my 256GB drive to the 500GB drive and when I installed the drive and rebooted, it was ROCK and ROLL!!! *** OK, I have been using this for a couple of days now and the performance increase is very noticeable. Could be that I was running out of space on my other drive, but WOW! *** Highly recommend!

10 times faster than my old hard drive. Made my 8 year old desk top run like it was new.

This made a WORLD of difference for my mid 2010 macbook pro. I bought a SATA to USB converter and cloned my hard drive using carbon copy cloner. The whole process took about 5 hours to clone and then about 30 minutes to install the hard drive. You could probably do the installation in much less time, but I was very careful about everything. Youll need to buy a toolkit to be able to open up your mac and remove the hard drive. I got mine on Amazon for about $10. The reason I got this thing is because my macbook was SO slow. It was taking over 5 minutes to start up and over 3 minutes to open applications. I couldnt bare it anymore. I was about to buy a macbook air when a friend recommended trying an SSD. Im not kidding when I say that I feel like I have a brand new computer. The gains in speed are incredible. No need for a macbook air. That saved me about $1300. I highly recommend installing one of these if youre having speed issues with your macbook.

My husband bought this and is so happy with how fast his computer runs now. Photoshop only takes about 3 seconds to open now, and iTunes only takes a few seconds instead of 10 freaking minutes to open.

Installed as a replacement HD for my laptop as it needed this to help with the burden of running multiple VMs. While I havent run any stress tests nor done any significant read/write tests, its an SSD. Boot times are incredibly better, my VMs load much quicker and generally speaking, everything loads noticebly faster. On my laptop, I generally see read/write speeds of 150-160 MB/ sec. I would and will most likely purchase more in the near future.

If you only have SATA connectors on your motherboard, you can truly trust the Samsung 850 EVO Sollid State Drives. They are simple to set up and FAST! Now, if you have a cutting edge motherboard, with an M2 connector, you will go up to the Samsung 950 EVO or Pro NvMe PCI-e (non-sata mount) solid state drives up to 4x faster than a conventional solid state drive because the SATA bus is bypassed and data goes more quickly across the mobo to the cpu. I have bought a TON of the SATA 850 Evos from Samsung for my older machines - and I have great faith in them!

My experience mirrors that of most of the other reviewers so I will try not to be redundant. Like most others, I found the upgrade process to be relatively straight forward and the results to be amazing. I recommend you peruse the excellent reviews, instructions and troubleshooting shown here. For the past 25 years, I have used my computer 4 hours or more a day. Like most everyone, I have continually looked for improvements in efficiency. There is nothing more disheartening than sitting in front of a computer screen waiting for it to boot, open a program or display a page. While not a techie, I have been forced to learn more about wireless networks, computer specs/repair/upgrading than I feel like I should have. When I bought my last laptop computer 3 years ago, I again chased efficiency by investing in a faster processor and increased RAM. Needless to say, even having spent a significant amount, I was still disappointed and frustrated. I found a solution to my slow wireless signal by adding multiple hotspots and bridging computers in low signal areas. While this helped significantly, I was still not satisfied and like many other users, I considered buying a newer computer. However, when I compared specs for processor, RAM, etc., I did not see that buying a newer computer would be that much of an improvement. So, I decided to invest in a 23 monitor which was relatively inexpensive and this EVO 850 500 Gb SSD. I couldnt be happier. By optimizing my wireless/internet speed, increasing monitor size and adding the SSD, I am as close as I have ever been to being satisfied with my computing experience.

So far, so good. The drive performs as advertised and hasnt slowed down since I purchased it a few months ago for OSX. I just bought another one to run Windows 8.1 (and soon 10) on and Im hoping for even faster speeds due to Samsungs Windows-only tech they advertise. SATA III solid state drives are for the most part saturating the interface so the only possible way I could get better performance would be with a different product. For the price and performance, I wont suggest a different brand of solid state drive to my friends and family because Samsung just figured it out with this one.

Best upgrade you can give any laptop. The Data Migration software was a waste of time. Use another method of cloning the drive. I used a HDD duplicator it worked great,

Im using this SSD for my steam games. Warning, This SSD doesnt come with a hard drive cable. I just assumed that it would since my Corsair Neutron GTX SSD came with one, but that was my mistake. So, make sure to get a 6 GB/s cable in order to get the full performance from this SSD. Out the box, its clocking speeds of 300mb/s. Turns out you have to download Samsung Magician app and then turn on Rapid mode in the advanced settings. But, the product itself is really fast and reliable.

Upgrading your PC with a Samsung SSD is the most economical way to breathe new life into an aging PC. The 850 EVO reads, writes and multi tasks at incredible speeds, enhancing boot up speed, application loading and multi tasking performance. It"s more than an upgrade, it"s a complete transformation of your PC.
